Late-adult fathers’ experiences of parenting across the lifespan

While theoretical studies have stressed the lifelong development of father involvement, little is known about how fathers experience and describe their parenting children from childhood to adulthood. We interviewed 93 Swedish in late adulthood these issues address identified research gap. Our thematic analysis generated a set core aspects fathers’ sense that they were persistent adulthood, namely being engaged, present, available. results also suggest soft was prominent retrospect balanced involvement with independence adult children. These can be applied within clinical settings target parents different phases parenthood help them navigate everyday struggles overall strivings as parents. This knowledge used clinically relation individuals it highlights potential psychosocial challenges lives.
